"Developing the Limitless Potential inside Every Student"
Welcome to Vera Academy!

We have founded this studio with the goal of creating a positive, nurturing environment for students to learn to love the arts of dance and gymnastics and discover the limitless potential that is inside of them. We offer a full program of dance classes in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Pom and Cheer, and Dance Technique as well as Gymnastics, Tumbling, and Movement for ages 18 months and up. We are confident that your interest in the performing arts will be challenged and developed by taking part in one or more of our classes.

On this website, you will find our studio policies. We ask that you carefully read over the information and discuss it with your child/children. We are able to accept online registrations for classes through our website. We encourage you to register online to ensure your spot is reserved in the class times that are convenient for your schedule. If online registration is not for you, registration may also be completed by contacting the studio. If you are uncertain what class your child would benefit from or in what level to place your child, please email or call the studio.
We are continually adding to and updating our current schedule so please check our website often. If you have any questions or requests, let us know through phone or email. We can't wait to see you in class!
Sincerely,
Vera Academy of Dance & Gymnastics

Information and Policies
Accounts
A $99.00 minimum is required at registration to secure your spots in classes. Vera Academy accepts payment for classes in cash, by check, or credit card. Tuition not received as scheduled will result in a weekly late charge of $10 per student. Returned checks will result in a $30 charge followed by payment in cash or by credit card. Outstanding tuition may result in the temporary suspension of your child until the account is current. Students with outstanding balances will not be allowed to compete or perform in our performances. We do not want to deny any student the opportunity to learn or perform so if needed, please call the studio to arrange an alternative payment plan. There are no tuition refunds for missed classes, withdrawing during the session, or class cancellations due to weather or other circumstances outside of our control. There are no refunds or adjustments for costumes.
Attendance and Student Conduct
Attendance is very important for the success of the student and of the class. Classes start at a scheduled time and promptness is expected. Students coming in late cause too much distraction, delay, and will not be properly warmed-up for class. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class. The studio cannot jeopardize its responsibilities to the rest of the class for one student so please make every effort to attend every class and arrive on time. Please contact the studio as soon as possible if a student must miss a class due to illness or family obligation. Excessive absences may result in the student not being part of our performances. No food, gum, or drink is allowed in the studios. A lounge area is provided for food and drink outside of class time. Please show respect for your instructors, fellow dancers, and all Vera Academy equipment by cleaning up after yourself when using the studio, lounge, bathrooms, and changing areas. Please make sure you arrive on time for your class, are in proper attire, and are ready to learn with a positive attitude. If a student acts in a manner that creates an unsafe learning environment, that student will be dismissed immediately. No refund will be given if a student is asked to leave class or the studio due to misconduct. Absolutely no cell phones allowed in the studios at any time.
Attire
The base dress code pieces are a leotard in the color of your level with pink convertible tights. (Ages 1.5-5 - Turquoise; Ages 5-7 & Level 1 - Peacock Blue; Levels 2-5 - Black). Dress code leotards and tights may be purchased through the studio.
For ballet class, you may add a ballet skirt (no shorts or spandex), ballet cardigan, and leg warmers.
For all other classes, you may add spandex, short shorts, or leggings for bottoms and/or fitted tank top or fitted t-shirt (short or long-sleeved) for a top.
Absolutely no sweatshirts, sweatpants, jeans, long t-shirts, or oversized, baggy articles of any kind. Dangling jewelry should be removed.
Absolutely no street shoes are allowed in the studios. Proper foot attire is required for all classes. Please change out of dance shoes before going outside. All dance shoes may be purchased through the studio, please contact the studio for further information.
Class Cancellation
Classes may be cancelled or combined if less than five students are registered for a particular class. In the case of teacher illness, a suitable substitute will be sought out; however, classes may be cancelled if one is not available. Inclement Weather circumstances will be handled on a case by case basis and cancelations will be determined based on predicted driving conditions during class times. Cancellations will be announced by email and Band message.

Class Registration and Placement
To register for classes, please contact the studio to determine the proper class placement for your child. When determining class placement, we consider the student’s age, dance ability, experience, and maturity. Adjustments or advancement of levels is determined by instructor recommendation. Confirmation of your registration will be sent via email.

Class Withdrawals
Class withdrawals must be made in writing with a 30 day notice. Remaining tuition due will be calculated and will be due on demand, if any. If you have paid in advance, pro-rated refunds will be determined on a case by case basis. No show attendance of classes does not constitute a class withdrawal and tuition charges will continue to accumulate until proper notice is given in writing.
Costumes
Costumes for the Summer Festival and Christmas Production will be rented from the studio for a fee to cover cleaning and maintenance of the costumes. For the Spring Showcase, costumes are purchased and will be ordered in January/February. Costumes average cost is $60-$90 per costume and payment is due at time of ordering; no costume will be ordered unless payment is received in full. Costumes cannot be returned. Exchanges may be made for size only. Parents are responsible for any alterations that need to be done to costumes as Vera Academy is not responsible for costumes that do not fit properly.
Dad’s/Mom's Dances
Dad’s/Mom's Dances are a choreographed dance featuring Vera dance students and their dads/moms or significant adult. It is performed at the Spring Recital for Dads and the Christmas Show for Moms with practices starting 8-10 weeks prior to the show. Exact dates and times will be published in the Monday Minutes newsletter.
Parades
We plan to participate in the Shawano Homecoming Parade in September and Santa Parade in December. All Vera Academy students are invited to participate. The dance routine will be learned in class and more information will be given closer to the dates.
Parent Observation
Parents are allowed to observe their child's classes. While viewing classes, please keep conversation voices very low and quiet. Extra noise in the classroom can become very distracting for the students and difficult for the instructor to speak over the extra noises. Please also refrain from calling out instructions to your child during their class, unless the instructor has requested your assistance.
Parking
Traffic Flow: Our entrance/exit on Division Street is somewhat blind with the proximity of the neighboring building which has been causing some pretty close calls. In the past, it seems to work better if we all travel one-way through the back side of our building. Going forward, please enter from Main Street by Automotive Supply, come around the backside of their building through the alley, park or drop off at our building and then exit onto Division Street. This is not a fool proof plan because customers for other businesses will not know this traffic pattern, but if we try to manage our own traffic especially during the very busy times it should help smooth out some of the congestion.
Parking: Please only utilize the spaces directly behind our building, the public parking lot across Division Street behind Cornerstone Chiropractic, or any other Public Parking areas, such as around Franklin Park. Do NOT use any other business’s parking lot or spaces marked for another business. If the person transporting your student does not receive these Monday Minutes, please pass this information along to them as well.

Pictures
Class and individual pictures will be taken during the season. You will receive information about exact dates and times at a later time. They are tentatively scheduled for March/April.
Private Lessons
Any student has the option of registering for a private lesson. This is on a first come, first serve basis as time slots are limited. Please make your day and time requests by filling the request form at https://www.veradanceacademy.com/extra-dance-request-form and we will try to accommodate them. Once confirmed, it is the student's responsibility to notify the instructor of an absence in advance. There are no make-ups for missed lessons. However, if the student will be absent, they can switch the lesson time with another student with instructor approval. Another dance class must be taken in addition to any solo, duet/trio, or small group.
Performances
We have three main performances per year: Spring Showcase recital, Summer Festival, and Christmas Production.
Spring Showcase - May/June includes all dance and acro classes. Gymnasts have an optional performance which would include extra practices.
Summer Festival - August includes all dance, tumbling, and gymnastics classes.
Christmas Production - November/December includes all dance and acro classes.
The dress rehearsal will be the evening before the performances. Exact times for the dress rehearsal and performance will be announced as soon as they are available. The performances will be recorded and photographed; media packages will be available for order.
Used Shoe Sale
Please bring your gently used dance shoes to the studio and drop them off at our reception desk if you would like to have them sold on consignment or simply passed on to another student. Each pair of shoes should be in a clear bag and labeled with your name, size, and price. New dance shoes may be ordered anytime through the studio; please contact the studio for more information.
